Basically there are two possibilities how to get g-Eclipse: - Choose one of our ready-to-run packages appropriate for your operating system.
This option is appropriate to get a standalone version of g-Eclipse including a minimal Eclipse installation. - Use the Eclipse update manager to get the g-Eclipse plug-ins.
This option is especially interesting for people already using Eclipse.
Package installation
Download one of the following all-in-one packages (depending on your computer platform), unpack it, goto the directory "eclipse" and start the executable (eclipse.exe or eclipse). - First major release packages, 30.11.2009
For former releases see our archive page.
Eclipse Installation
Prerequisites
Installing g-Eclipse with the Eclipse Update Manager
The g-Eclipse 1.0 Release is available from the g-Eclipse Update Site at "http://www.geclipse.eu/update/1.0/", whereas the latest g-Eclipse Release Candidate build will be available at the http://www.geclipse.eu/update/1.1milestones Update Site. It requires that external dependencies are available from the Ganymede Discovery Site. - Start your Eclipse and open the Eclipse Update Manager with Help > Software Updates > Find and Install...
- In the Install/Update wizard choose Search for new features to install
- On the next wizard page add the g-Eclipse Update Site
"http://www.geclipse.eu/update/1.0/" with the New Remote Site... button - Include both - the g-Eclipse Update Site and the Ganymede Discovery Site in your search and press Finish
- After scanning the different udpate sites you will get a list of new features that are available. Select all g-Eclipse features.
- Due to a bug in the Update Manager you have to open/expand the list of available features from the Ganymede Discovery Site; then you can add the missing feature dependencies with Select Required
- Press Next and accept the terms in the license agreement. Follow the wizard that will download and install all necessary features and plug-ins. Depending on your internet connection this may take some time
- After all features have been installed Eclipse must be restarted.
- Now open the the g-Eclipse (User) perspective and start the Getting Started With g-Eclipse cheat sheet (Help > Cheat Sheets...)
